Sights
Using natural elements to create texture for center pieces, side tables or mantels adds warmth and coziness to a room that plastic and glitter just can?t achieve. Make a trip to the forest to collect acorns, pine cones and holly branches or purchase nuts or fruits or even branch clippings from your own yard to create settings throughout your home that are warm and inviting. Sounds
Investing in a sound system or even a quality iPod docking station system can be another element in creating a warm and inviting home. Men and women hear sounds differently. Men usually hear better in the lower frequency ranges, while women typically hear better in higher frequencies. Poorer quality sounds systems use speakers and equalization that fall into the mid range frequencies. Unfortunately all mid range frequencies can be perceived by both sexes as shallow, with no body to it. Selecting a higher quality system will give all of your guests the best opportunity to experience your musical selections in the warmest way. Another trick is to make sure your docking station or speakers are placed directly on the floor. The bass frequencies will travel through the floor and allow your guests to ?feel? the music as well.
Smells
They say that our sense of smell creates the most long-lasting memories. Candles, fresh flowers, essential oils, herb bundles, potpourri and even a crackling fire can all play important roles in creating a pleasant aroma.?Even frozen dough breads, rolls or cookies, that are baked off just before guests arrive, can instantly transport your guests to good memories of Thanksgiving dinner at grandma?s or a big family feast with all the relatives, you can see why the smell of fresh baked bread or a yummy apple pie would bring about good feelings and help create an overall calming effect.
